When we are not using our car, we park it in the parking space. That’s easy to understand. It is also easy to understand what domain parking means. No, it is not related with the car parking. Let me explain, what it is.
When you buy a domain name from a domain registrar, you may be in two situations –

One – you have a website or blog on a free hosting service, and want to buy your own domain name and want to link your existing site or blog with your custom domain name. In this case, you do the settings to make your domain name point to your website or blog.

Two – you are planning to build a website, but don’t have any content published anywhere as of now. But you go for registering a domain name first. So when you register a domain name, and you don’t have any site or blog it can point to, then if you try opening your domain name in the web browser, where it will take you. To sort out this problem, the domain name registrars make a temporary arrangement and they create a dummy page for your domain name. So, basically your domain name is not being properly used as of now, but it is parked on a dummy page. That’s called domain parking.

Conclusion:

When we buy a domain name, but don’t have any online content it can point to, the registrar points it to a dummy page, which is called domain parking.
