What are Adverbs

A word or phrase that modifies or qualifies an adjective, verb, or other adverb or a word group, expressing a relation of place, time, circumstance, manner, cause, degree etc. is called Adverb.

So adverbs tell the qualities of verbs, adjectives or other adverbs in relation of place, time, circumstance, manner, cause and degree etc.

Adverbs of Time

The Adverbs which tell the qualities of a verb, adjective or other adverb in relation of time are called the Adverbs of Time. Some Adverbs of Time are:

Now, Then, Before, After, Today, Tomorrow, Yesterday, Soon, Late, Still, Yet, Since, Ago, Early, Once, Afterwards etc.

Following are some examples:

You have to start the work now.
Back then, I lived in Delhi.
It has started raining now.
She had gone before I reached there.
She reached after the train departed.
I will go to watch the movie tomorrow.
It rained heavily yesterday.
I am not done yet.
It is too early to confirm that.
Long time ago, there was a king.
Let me try that once.
I will be coming to meet you soon.
The train was five hours late.
I still believe him.
She found out about it long afterward.
